Born-digital artifacts (such as email, 3-D scans, or architectural drawings) are dynamic, ephemeral, and inter-dependent on a network of rapidly obsolescing software and hardware. This makes digital artifacts at high risk of disappearing from our historical record without proactive preservation attention. Seen here is an archived web page from the early days of Harvard’s COVID-19 response, a website the University Archives is preserving as it evolves almost daily.
