Reformat New Flash Drive to PEM2-friendly Format

Recommended kind of flash/thumb drive to use: USB 2.0

Be sure to reformat new drives as most of them will come with some sort of security or file management software factory-installed.

Reformat the flash drive to wipe it and start with “empty” storage sectors. 

1. Insert the drive into your computer. Copy all the files from the drive onto your desktop so you have a backup of the files (reformatting erases the drive).
2. Right click on the flash drive icon (from the desktop or My Computer dialog)
3. Choose "Format"
4. Under "file system" choose FAT32

Click start.
