The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Department of Scientific Research hosted the “Materials Testing for Cultural Heritage Symposium” on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019. The symposium covered recent developments in materials selection methods and both advanced and traditional materials testing techniques. Many institutions rely on the Oddy test while others utilize advanced analytical methodologies such as gas and liquid chromatography. Presenters addressed the state of the art in our field and encouraged discussion improving our ability to accurately evaluate a broad array of materials for those with and without advanced analytical capabilities. Support for this symposium was provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Attendees Angela Chang, Judith Jungels, and Debora Mayer will discuss highpoints of the symposium. Judith Jungels will review the AIC’s Materials Working Group meeting that followed the symposium.

**Please note meeting logistics: plan to arrive early and meet in the museum courtyard near the visitor services’ desk between 10:45 an 10:55am. Attendees will be escorted to the Naumburg Room by Straus Center staff.
