##  Service Description

 To provide an array of preservation education opportunities to the Harvard Library community, Preservation Services staff:

- Teach in-person and online presentations,
- Facilitate customized workshops and training sessions
- Present conference reviews to share content learned elsewhere

###  Audiences

 Training workshops are often targeted for specific audiences, including library staff, faculty and students, and the broader Harvard University preservation community (including museums).

###  Topics

 Topics in our training curricula include:

- Careful handling for students, library staff, and HUMS staff;
- Emergency response, emergency planning, collections salvage, media/format identification and salvage (including audio, video, film, electronic, and magnetic media);
- Exhibitions/displays/classroom use of collection materials;
- Preservation assessment for circulation, acquisitions and curatorial staff;
- Environmental monitoring.

###  Presentations

 Informal presentations are offered by staff who attend conferences and training outside of Harvard. They share highlights and their key takeaways, and facilitate discussion of how the lessons learned might impact Harvard Library. These presentations are often lunchtime brown-bag events, targeted towards the HU preservation community and Boston-area conservation and preservation colleagues.

###  Internships

 Harvard students are encouraged to contact us to arrange work-study or short-term internship opportunities. Summer, semester, and full-year internships in select specialties within conservation and preservation are occasionally offered to current graduate students concentrating in those disciplines.
