What would you do if confronted with wet audiovisual (AV) materials? Do you know the ins and outs of handling wet audio tape, lacquer discs, or motion picture film? The actions taken within the first few hours of a water emergency play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term survival of these complex and fragile materials.

This workshop, which consists of two half-day, hands-on sessions, will help you identify and prioritize the most vulnerable AV formats in your collections and teach you the basics of triaging these materials in a salvage situation. The two sessions are interrelated, so participants must attend both. Space is limited to 16 participants, and [registration](mailto:preserve_wpc@harvard.edu?subject=Registration%20for%20AV%20Identification%20and%20Salvage) is required. Initial registration will be limited to one seat per library, but additional registrants will be accepted if space allows.

*The workshop will be taught by Elizabeth Walters, Preservation Librarian for Audiovisual Materials (HL Preservation Services) and Amy Sloper, Collections Archivist (Harvard Film Archive), with guest appearances by other members of the HL Preservation Services and Media Preservation Services staff.*
